Bio: Miyabi is a PhD student in Statistics at UC Berkeley. She is also a member of the “Environment and Society: Data Sciences for the 21st Century” NSF Research Traineeship, an interdisciplinary program for students conducting research at the intersection of data, social and natural sciences. 

Previously, she spent her undergraduate years at Waseda University in Japan, from which she graduated with a B.E. in Applied Mathematics, and then at New York University, where she received a M.S. in Applied Statistics for Social Science Research. 

As an intern in the lab, Miyabi is jointly working on a project that uses satellite imagery to remotely track economic and environmental outcomes in the U.S. 

Apart from school, she enjoys drawing, crafting and listening to music in different languages.
