Suraj Nair

Bio: Suraj R. Nair is a post-doctoral fellow in the Global Policy Laboratory at Stanford University. Suraj’s research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning, environmental change, and development economics. Suraj's ongoing work examines 1) the social and economic consequences of illegal mining in India, and 2) how climate change and conflict reshape human migration across the world. He holds an MA in Development Studies from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and received a PhD in Information Science from UC Berkeley. In a previous life, Suraj advised researchers and policymakers in India on the design and implementation of randomized control trials and policy evaluation studies.
