Solomon Hsiang, professor of public policy at U.C. Berkeley, talks with Rachel Maddow about the results of a study of the effectiveness of efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus, and the historic feat that humans around the world have achieved in adjusting their behavior to slow the spread of the disease.

UC Berkeley study says COVID-19 prevention measures prevented 500M infections. As co-author of the new-study, Ian Bolliger explains the number of total infections would’ve been even larger, as not everyone is tested.

“The cost of these policies -- people losing their jobs, children being kept home from school -- are highly visible,” said co-author Hannah Druckenmiller.
